Raised in Sacramento, Ric’s love for cars didn’t start with magazines or social media — it started next door, with the man he affectionately calls his “white pops.”
A neighbor.
A mentor.
A garage teacher.
The kind of guy who didn’t just work on cars — he respected them.
That mindset stuck.
And decades later, it’s still the foundation of every build Ric touches.
A Passion Passed Down
For Ric, car culture isn’t a solo hobby.
It’s a family language.
Both of his sons grew up wrenching beside him — late nights, scraped knuckles, and shared opinions about what looks right and what doesn’t.
They don’t always agree on style.
But that’s not the point.
“We may not love the same kinds of cars,” Ric says, “but we respect each other’s opinions.”
That respect — that shared time in the garage — is what he hopes to pass down to his grandkids one day.
Because for Ric, cars aren’t just machines.
They’re memories on wheels.
Why a Wagon?
While everyone else was chasing coupes and sedans, Ric went the opposite direction.
Wagons.
Always wagons.
So when it came time for his next project, the choice was obvious:
The Audi A4 Avant.
The last of its body style.
Practical.
Clean.
Underrated.
Perfect.
After a previous Avant was totaled in an accident, Ric found another — bone stock and black — and started fresh.
What followed was anything but subtle.
The Birth of “The Halfrican”
At first, the car wore a half-black, half-white two-tone scheme that earned it the nickname:
“The Halfrican.”
The name stuck.
But the evolution didn’t stop there.
Today, the wagon sits wrapped in a dazzling metallic Sapphire Blue that flips tones under sunlight and show lights alike — the kind of color that makes people stop mid-sentence and ask:
“Wait… what color is that?”
Exactly the reaction Ric loves.

Ric’s style isn’t about going wild for the sake of it.
It’s OEM+ at heart — factory-inspired, but elevated.
Then sprinkled with just enough aggression to make you look twice.

After nearly 30 years of federal service and nearing retirement, with plans to relocate to Washington, Ric keeps it real about the hobby.
“I’ll always be a baller on a budget,” he laughs.
“I’m not rich — I’m just irresponsible.”

What the Scene Means to Him
Ric’s been in the car scene since 1997.
He’s seen trends come and go.

“Winning isn’t everything,” he says.
“But doing shows with my family? That’s everything.”
